Portugal Inovador, o Mercado Ibérico - TICE

Invited by AICEP and TICE.PT, MAISIS attended, last 14th October in Salamanca (Spain), the event “Portugal Inovador, o Mercado Ibérico – TICE” (Innovative Portugal, The Iberian Market – TICE”) sponsored by Caixa Geral de Depósitos, having the opportunity to present its knowledge management product – OOBIAN.
It is a result of AICEP and CGD Group partnership and has as main goal to promote and enhance cross-border relationships and boost Iberian competences in IT sector, through a cycle of business meetings.
This initiative was launched in Merida, in November 2009, and after the aeronautics meeting in Aerospace Technology Park of Andalusia, in May 2010, Portugal had now the chance to reaffirm their skills in IT sector.
Portugal is a very competitive player in the global technology market and pioneered countless solutions that facilitate companies and citizens daily operations worldwide.

World Search Microsoft Project
|
|
World Search Microsoft is an I&D project for future research technologies, general information and business-relevant semantics, with proper knowledge of Portuguese language, culture and market. This project is undertaken by a consortium of several companies, including MAISIS, in collaboration with several corporate R&D centers and academic institutions.
The main goal of this project is to place Portugal, in 2015, among the top 3 reference EU countries in Internet domain and corporate search technologies, increasing and making search domain a key component of portuguese strategy for Communication and Information Technologies.

Portugal Tecnológico ("Technological Portugal"), the nation's largest technology and innovation show, will be held from 22nd to 26th September at the FIL exhibition center, Lisbon.

MATURE Project
MAISIS is the latest MATURE partner, a large-scale integrating project (IP), co-funded by the European Commission, Unit for Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL), within the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). MASIS first contribute will be on the 16th April, in Vienna, Austria.

OOBIAN@Microsoft Techdays 2010
Silverlight Enterprise Mashups: Case study applied to Knowledge Management in Microsoft Techdays 2010 On the 21 st April, MAISIS presented a case study using its Knowledge Management application OOBIAN, in Microsoft Techdays event.

OOBIAN @ KMWORLD 2009, CALIFORNIA
MAISIS - Information Systems was the only Portuguese company present as a sponsor (Silver Sponsor) in the KMWORLD 2009 exhibition – One of the biggest Knowledge Management (KM) events in the USA – last November 17 to November 20, in San Jose, California ( http://www.kmworld.com/kmw09/)
The new Maisis’s KM product OOBIAN (see product presentation and movie on www.oobian.com), will be launched in the European Market in the first quarter of 2010.The software platform is the result of more than 4 years of research and development, also supported by European universities and institutes. OOBIAN is a knowledge management system based on an intelligent navigation user interface developed in Microsoft Silverlight, able to link structured and unstructured data wherever they might be - inside or outside the “wall”.
Related to some semantic interpretation capacity based on ontologies, the usability and ease of viewing and linking contents dynamically through drill up & drill down, geo-referencing, reporting, was worthy of great accolades, not only from visitants but also from competitors.
It is also expected for the first quarter of 2010 that the general public gets a free demo version of the OOBIAN Desktop Search - for local use only.

OOBIAN @ IDC ECM Event in Lisbon
On the 19th November 2009, IDC Portugal organized one more event about Enterprise Content Management, in Centro Cultural de Belém, Lisbon. This year’s theme was "How to ensure compliance and accelerate “time to market" in a demanding context?” MAISIS was present in the event as a Silver Sponsor. The collaborative area, namely the use of enterprise content management tools is, per si, a key area that enables companies to retain knowledge and thus, to be competitive in the increasingly global market.
The greatest secret of competitive companies comes from the knowledge of the business process, the quality and the relationship between internal data and the suitable sharing of information – it’s the intellectual capital merged with the human capital. MAISIS has been working on this perspective, developing ECM intern products, preparing soon to represent a well-known ECM platform. Beyond the traditional view of these systems, the strategic interest is focused on the integration with the knowledge management product OOBIAN and on its capacity to provide companies with extra competences that will increase the business knowledge and improve decision support.
